Waiting for your website to make it in the top of the Search Engines?

Just waiting for your website to make it up in the top of the search engine?

Unfortunately, "If you build it they will come...." does not necessarily apply to putting a website out there in cyberspace. There are many factors that go into getting your website viewed. One of those factors are your Key Words.

Key words are one of the key elements the search engines are looking for as they crawl through cyberspace. If you have control of your website, or even if you don't have control and someone built it for you, check to make sure you have the following going on:

1. Create a list of about 10 key words that you want people to search on to find your site. (Many people think the more they have the better but that more or less confuses the search engines as they are looking for the KEY words of your site. Have too many and they will not be able to identify what it is your site is focused on.)

2. Include your Key Words in your TITLE and DESCRIPTION and FILE NAME of your website. The more times the search engines see those words, the better chance you have of being flagged.

3. Include those key words in the first few paragraphs of your website page.

What you are doing by following these steps is Highlighting your site content for the search engines. If you give them too much information (too many key words) the spider that is crawling your site will just move on.

If you are looking to build a website and want to learn as you go, I highly recommend

SiteBuildIt

This is not an EASY package to breeze through but if you take the time to learn what they are trying to teach you, your on-line business will
benefit greatly!

Blessings on this on-line journey!

Why You Need A Success Mindset

You hear it all the time: "success is a state of mind." There are people who would argue that success is a natural result of proper planning, preparation and focused action, and that viewpoint certainly holds a grain of truth - but there are also many exceptions to disprove that "rule." Have you ever wondered how two people can attempt the same objective in the same way and only one of them succeed? Is it sheer luck? Timing? Tenacity? More often than not, it's a person's mind-set that determines whether they fail or succeed.

What is a mind-set, anyway? Typically a mind-set refers to your predominant state of mind day to day. It's what you think about, focus on, and expect from your daily experiences. Think negatively, expect the worst, feel pessimistic about your options and that's exactly what you'll seem to draw into your life. Likewise, think positively, expect the best and focus on a successful outcome and you get it most of the time.

Makes sense, right? But how exactly does this work? Why is a success mind-set so important? There are three big reasons:

1) A success mind-set boosts your confidence and self-belief.

A lack of belief in yourself usually comes along with a sense of powerlessness and futility, which is the exact opposite of a success mind-set. Lack of confidence means you see no point in trying to be successful because it won't happen anyway. Obviously, this type of mind-set is a recipe for failure in any endeavor.

Having a true success mind-set, on the other hand, means you believe in yourself and your capabilities. You believe you can succeed at nearly anything you try, and you're willing to give it your best shot. Even better, the more you do try, the more confidence and self-belief you build - until you're virtually unstoppable!

2) A success mind-set strengthens your determination.

Without a success mind-set, one failure is enough to convince you that pursuing your goals is a waste of time. Tenacity and determination don't exist in your world. If you don't become a raging success the first time you try, you surmise that it simply wasn't meant to be. Unfortunately, few things worth having are obtained so easily!

A success mind-set, however, strengthens your awareness that a failure is not the end of the story - it's just one more way that didn't work out the way you planned. In fact, a true success mind-set makes it obvious that the only true failure occurs when you stop trying.

3) A success mind-set encourages fruitful actions.

Have you ever found yourself wandering in circles because you didn't know the best way to approach a specific goal? Perhaps you had an idea of the best course of action but you felt intimidated by some of the action steps required. As a result, you may have kept sabotaging your efforts as you searched in vain for an easier or less frightening way to your goal.

With a true success mind-set, you'll always know the most effective action steps that will lead directly to your goal. As already discussed, you'll also have the inner confidence and determination to pursue them - which is a sure recipe for . . . you guessed it; success!

If I had to sum up how to develop a success mind-set into as few words as possible, I'd say this:

- Go for your dreams.
- Think positively.
- Believe in yourself.
- Believe you can do better.
- Learn, grow and develop yourself.
- Be willing to take chances.
- Give it your all.
- Expect the best in every situation.
- Be willing to fail.
- When you fall down, get back up and try again.

Keep doing that and you can't help but become successful, from the inside out.

Do you have a "Plan B"?

Today's changing economy creates uncertainty, doesn't it? All we have to do is watch the news or read the paper and we becomeaware of how unstable things are; layoffs, bankruptcies, Social Security, stock market, retirement, etc. The average American only has enough money saved for one month without income. That's kind of scary.

I'm wondering, do you have a "Plan B" in place to pay for life's necessities, emergencies and joys?

When I began my journey as a home business owner I really didn't have the big picture. I knew I loved candles and was looking for a way toearn some extra cash doing something I loved.

Now, I see this business for what it really is....."Plan B".

As my business grows it is:

- Securing our retirement
- Providing a slush fund
- Protecting us in case of emergency
- Giving us freedom to do things we couldn't have done before
- Creating a legacy for our children
- Protecting us from downsizing
- Allowing us free time
- Much more.....

I encourage you not to wait for someone else to take care of your future. Do your homework
and take steps to secure your future.

There is a great site from a great on-line mentor, Tim Sales. This site explains and answers many questions people have on our industry.

Are you curious? Invest some time in your future and check it out.

Grab a family member, your favorite beverage, light a Mia Bella Candle (hopefully you have one) and plan for your future.

Inexpensive ways to market your website

The Internet World changes almost minute by minute. How does one keep up?

I've been on the internet for over three years and have found some inexpensive ways to keep my website at the top of the search engines WITHOUT DOING GOOGLE ADDWORDS or PAY PER CLICK.

Here are some ideas you might find helpful in getting your site out there:

MESSAGE BOARDS: Message boards are a great way to get acquainted with those in your target market for FREE. Find message boards where your target market visits. Participate in message boards in a professional manner, offering advice and insight. Keep it professional. With every post leave your URL in your signature line. As people begin to trust and respect you they will often go to your URL link to investigate more.

Locate Message Boards for your Target Market: www.BoardTracker.com

BLOGS: Blogs are a powerful tool for marketing and promotion. Because the entries are short, and often full of links, they are more keyword heavy than standard articles often are. Plus, being short, they are easy for your customers to read (and you to write), so they are more likely to come back daily to see what you might have to say on that day.

View My personal BLOG at: HomewithMiaBella.blogspot.com

WRITING ARTICLES: Brand yourself and get your name out there by writing articles. The search engines look for as many links as possible. This is a great FREE linking opportunity as others will grab YOUR articles and put them on THEIR sites. Therefore, a link to your site is generated.

I have a button on my personal site that identifies me as an EZine Article Expert. This takes my viewers to all the articles I have written.

Check it out at the bottom of my home page: www.HomeWithMiaBella.com

BECOME AN E-ZINE EXPERT AUTHOR: To become an article writer you don't necessarily have to be an expert on something. Just choose something you have a passion about. It does not have to be related to your business. You could write on cooking, dog grooming, website building, parenting, etc. Whatever you write on, just make sure you put information about your business in your BIO.

People are always looking for article content to include in their BLOGS, on their WEBSITES, NEWSLETTERS, etc. So if you have an article that they like, they will publish your article and include your BIO.

You can view my various article topics at: E-Zine Article by Gail Wahl

MYSPACE, FACEBOOK, SHOUTLIFE etc.: Social networking with these marketing tools is a NO COST option. These are great avenues to build relationships with people which create long term customers/prospects. These customers/prospects know 100's of other people who they may pass your information to. This is also a great way to pre-qualify your leads. Read the profiles, they are like resumes. Get to know them to find if they would be a good match for YOU!

SQUIDOO: Squidoo is a powerful tool to get traffic to your website. Everyone is an expert on something. Squidoo gives you an opportunity to market yourself as an expert and build your reputation on line.

In a nutshell, Squidoo is FREE space on the internet to use as you wish. Anyone can make a lens (a page like this) and have exposure on the internet.

Why use MySpace to advertise your business?

When you buy into something do you do it because you've gotten the facts and the facts sold you?

Most often we buy into products or businesses because somone has passionately convinced us to do so. But how does that conversation happen? It happens by allowing a relationship to take place, however brief.

In that relationship trust is built, and the opportunity for sharing truths takes place.

MySpace is a great opportunity for relationships to be built and trust to be formed. The kind of marketing income that takes place will be the kind that has long term effects. Someone who builds a relationship with you on-line knows 100's of other people. So if you do a good job of marketing yourself and sharing who you are, your business can't help but grow.

TIP FOR TODAY: Reltionships take a while to be built so be patient.

Don't judge progress by your ranking

Do you spend a significant amount of time watching your ranking on the search engines? If so, stop!

I know, it feels so good to see your site at the top of the search engines, or for many, making their way to the top of the search engines. Unfortunately, that really isn't a sign of your success.

Rankings are constantly fluctuating. You might check rankings one minute, then check again a few minutes later and see different results. I had this happen to me just the other day. I was showing someone my site and how it looked in the search engines and it was about #7 on the front page. We then went back about 5 minutes later and it was #3. Now I know these are good numbers, but that isn't the point. The point is, they had moved for no reason at all.

Why does your ranking move around? Here are some interesting facts I read recently from SiteProNews:

Sometimes the rankings are geotargeted. The search engines know where you're located by your IP address, and if they want they can (and I believe they do) sometimes point you to pages that are closer to where you are searching from, as they assume those results might be more beneficial to you.

Personalized search. If you're logged into your Google or Yahoo account, you may very well be getting search results that are specifically targeted to your own preferences. It's called personalized search, and it is a reality these days. As people use Gmail, Google Analtyics, Google AdWords, or any other free Google toy, Google learns more about you and may make specific recommendations based on this knowledge. Think about how Amazon is always making personalized recommendations for you. It wouldn't be surprising if Google and Yahoo become more Amazon-like with their recommendations in the near future. The end result is that no two people will see the same rankings, making them an even more worthless measurement than they already are.

Rankings don't equal targeted traffic. Rankings don't always even equal un-targeted traffic! If you optimize your pages for keyword phrases that nobody's searching for, your optimization efforts will all be wasted. And if you're measuring success by how you rank for those useless keywords, you may be thinking you're successful when you're really not.

If your hosting company gives you the ability to track your traffic, which they should or you should find another host, then look at the search words people are finding you with. Or better yet, go to a keyword tool such as http://www.wordtracker.com/ (they have a free trial) and find out what people are search for in your product or business category.

Rankings don't equal conversions or sales. All the high rankings in the world won't matter if they don't increase your bottom line somehow. If you receive lots of untargeted traffic, or no traffic at all, your sales will remain static.

What should you be measuring instead?

The things that matter, of course—the targeted traffic, but even more important than that—the conversions and sales. You have to be able to show your clients a positive return on their Search Engine Optimization (SEO) investment, or you're just not doing your job properly.

Start measuring the things that matter.

My next post will cover in more detail, the things that matter.
